Detroit Pop-Ups

Iconic Detroit landmarks depicted in over-sized pop-up book form.

Michigan Central Station

This is a mammoth sized pop-up of the long since empty train station located in Detroit's Corktown. Michigan Central Station, built in 1914, was designed by both the Warren and Wetmore, and Reed and Smith architecture firms whom had created New York's Grand Central Station the year prior.

Utilizing the pop-up of the train station from my book, Detroit Nostalgia, this is a significantly enlarged version of it with the addition of 845 windows - cut out by hand.

30.5" x 36" closed - open, the building stands 21" tall.

Michigan & Trumbull

At the corner of Michigan and Trumbull is where baseball was played in Detroit for over 100 years. Known by several names over the years, Tiger Stadium was one of the oldest ball parks in the country when, 9 years after the Tigers moved to the new Comerica Park, the Detroit landmark was sadly demolished.

Based off a pop-up of the stadium from my book, Detroit Nostalgia, this is a slightly enlarged version of it with the addition of a pop-up street sign at the famous corner.

9'‘ x 12” closed - painted by hand with the cover done in cut paper.
